Kind Words From Supporters and Donors

Conservation of parrots in the wild is an incredibly important undertaking, especially with many parrots on the critically endangered list. The World Parrot Trust is the No.1 charity that is helping these beautiful creatures all over the globe - from New Zealand to Indonesia to Central America. WPT is a truly global charity but at the same time a very light-weight organisation. As a donor I am constantly delighted by the work of the World Parrot Trust - keep it up guys!

I've been giving to WPT since 2017. I was first impressed with the amount of educational resources they provide. The work they do to preserve parrot habitat and rehabilitation is remarkable - I greatly appreciate that they work with local communities and provide the support they need to continue to do their grassroots work. If you're even the slightest bit interested in learning about wild parrots, pet parrots, or animal advocation check out World Parrot Trust. They're doing the work our world desperately needs.

This awesome organization is doing a great job of helping to conserve parrots in the wild not only by fighting to disrupt the black market trade but by educating locals to cherish and protect their indigenous birds. They also support important research into parrot behavior and breeding and help return poached parrots to the wild. I am proud to be a longtime supporter of the World Parrot Trust.

WPT is a trustworthy non-profit, and we are always confident that our donations are spent wisely and to the best effect for the benefit of parrots worldwide. No millionaire CEOs are taking huge cuts of your hard-earned money. It is easy to see directly how donations are spent.

I’ve been a supporter of the World Parrot Trust for several years. I love the work that they do for parrot conservation around the world. They collaborate with and provide support to local conservation organisations to protect endangered parrots and help prevent illegal trapping and trade, as well as providing rehabilitation and release of injured parrots eg those that have been trapped, or affected by natural disasters. I urge everyone to help WPT to keep up this amazing work!

We're life members of WPT; it is a very solid, efficient, well-organized, and well-implemented non-profit. Contributors are kept abreast of WPT research and projects through a wonderful journal, Psittacine, and through regular informative email reports. WPT networks closely with other local, regional, and national conservation groups.

I have been a pet bird owner for over half my life. Really, they’re not pet birds, they're family members... I love WPT because they give us tips on how to enrich our birds' lives, as well as ours along with them. They also work very hard with other organizations to protect the world’s parrots from all the dangers that befall them.... I feel good about donating on a regular basis to WPT because I know the funds will be put to a good use and it’s something I believe in.... It’s a great organization!

I have been a benefactor of The World Parrot Trust for many years. I follow their projects in some detail. The work they do is critical to the survival of the parrots of this world. They play a crucial role in fighting the illegal trapping and poaching of parrots from the wild. They rehabilitate trapped parrots and re-release them into the wild. They educate local human populations to raise awareness and appreciation of the parrots in their area. The World Parrot Trust does excellent work and deserves support.

Parrots are under terrible pressure from habitat loss and poaching. These beautiful brilliant and sensitive creatures deserve better from us. World Parrot Trust is specifically dedicated to helping parrots around the world including stopping criminal trade, reintroduction of stressed species and habitat preservation. Unlike many animal charities this organization specifically helps parrots, a too often ignored species that desperately needs help from abuse and exploitation. I recommend them as an active donor.

This is a SOLID Organization that I have been a member of for many years. Although my charitable donations go to Parrot/Bird Sanctuaries, I also have a special place in my heart for the World Parrot Trust. They have had a tremendous impact with minimal resources.

I have been a supported of the WPT for many years. Almost 1/3 of parrot species are listed as threatened with extinction on the IUCN Red List. The WPT supports NGOs that are focused on parrot conservation with focuses on habitat restoration and preservation, halting poaching of nestlings to supply the pet trade, and working on reinforcement of existing populations and reintroduction of parrots into former habitats where they are now extinct. They have an excellent track record in this regard. I certainly plan to continue my support for years to come.

What an amazing organisation. I love the work carried out by the World Parrot Trust! They raise the profile of parrots and share their experience and expertise with other parrot owners. Their conservation work and support is exactly what is needed to protect these beautiful and unique birds.

Fantastic organization fighting to protect parrots and careful with their spending, ensuring it goes directly where it is needed the most. I admire how they "tred lightly" within the different countries, encouraging community involvement so that everyone is working together to protect their native treasures.

I have been a loyal supporter of World Parrot Trust for over ten years. I am passionate about parrots with all of their charm, playfulness and intelligence. Sadly, they are threatened by poaching, habitat loss and climate change. World Parrot Trust is at the forefront in parrot conservation fighting for their survival.

As a member of the World Parrot Trust for many years, I am grateful for their tireless efforts to protect, educate, and inform the world about birds. They are strong advocates for all birds and they work on a shoestring budget. It is truly amazing how they can accomplish so much with so little, but they do. I donate annually and at other times when a crisis occurs and support is needed.

What a wonderful organisation the World Parrot Trust is. The work it does to support our increasingly endangered parrots is more important today than it has ever been. Their mission is not only to support parrots in the wild by taking direct action where needed, but to help companion birds flourish by enhancing wellbeing and welfare through education.

I approached WPT several years ago seeking a volunteer opportunity (I am a retired wildlife Research Biologist). They put me to work on communications, a job that had me working closely with other staff, and gave a glimpse into the inner workings of the organization. They are a committed and talented team that is doing excellent work with parrot conservation globally. They are quite lean. They don't even maintain an office as a way of keeping overhead down...so the adjustments to Covid that other organizations struggled with this past year caused nary a hiccup at WPT. I am no longer working as a volunteer there, due to family needs. But I am happy to lend my support as a donor, and I keep apprised of their progress on many fronts through their magazines and newsletters. If one is interested in saving parrots-- one of the most endangered families of birds in the world--WPT is a respected and most effective NGO in that arena. A+++

My wife and I operate an unofficial parrot rescue operation out of our home, caring for nine rehomed parrots. Since discovering the World Parrot Trust years ago, we have learned a great deal of information about the present problems for parrots in the wild and in captivity. We rarely miss a chance to view the WPT Zoom presentations about the work they are doing to study parrots in the wild and how they enlist the aid and knowledge of the indigenous populations in their efforts to help sustain threatened parrot populations. Whenever we have questions, the wonderfully knowledgeable people at WPT are always ready to help. Knowing that the WPT is working tirelessly to improve the living conditions of parrots everywhere helps us face the work we do daily to care for our flock.

I chose a focus on WPT for several reasons. First, they have a holistic approach to parrot conservation , including habitat and economics. Second, they work with local people, volunteer or paid, to enable them to take over responsibility for their own conservation efforts. Third, they show amazing patience, dedication and ability to find creative ways to deal with problems. The staff I've met in webinars have been totally awesome; I can't climb trees now, but they certainly can!

I have a precious 34-year-old African Grey parrot who I love. Several years ago, I embarked on a Uganda ecotour to see African Grey parrots in the wild. It is there that I met World Parrot Trust’s Rowan Martin and witnessed, first-hand, his (and WPT’s) dedication and commitment to protecting and preserving our African Grey parrots – and their effectiveness!

As animal lovers, environmentalists and pet owners, the World Parrot Trust has been a huge influence on our lives. We have been fans and owners for over twenty years now. The people that work for and represent the WPT are truly an amazing group. We have met people in countries all over the world, all of whom have incredible stories to tell about the work they do in the effort to protect the remaining species and individuals of parrots. During the pandemic the WPT offered us live web presentations from people in Belize, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Africa and other countries, who gave us first hand views of the parrots and the daily work that goes into defending them from the myriad threats to their survival. We receive the wonderful publication, "Psittascene," which keeps us posted on their work and includes information about education and enrichment for our feathered friends. Most importantly, our ongoing contributions to the WPT allow us to combat the helplessness that many of us feel when we face the realities of today's world. Thank you WPT!

Parrots in the wild are "canaries in the coal-mine" of our natural world. We are losing them at breakneck speed from poaching, farming and habitat loss. As they disappear, so do all the fauna and creatures that live with them in jungles and forests - priceless treasures we need to nurture for future generations. The World Parrot Trust works worldwide - and is very careful with its limited resources. I've been a proud contributor for some time and have personally visited some of their operations in the field. They employ local expertise - working with residents and their government to protect parrots and nature. Many of their efforts have produced significant results - and laws have been changed protecting wildlife. There are many worthy conservation charities worthy of donor dollars. I believe WPT is superior - nearly every penny goes to save parrots Vs overhead, and because its small compared to some others - they can move and adapt rapidly to save endangered species. There is good reason this organization has a superb thirty-year track record, and it deserves your support.

My first association with parrots began over three decades ago when I had the opportunity to share my life with two cockatiels - a bonded pair that lived together for over 20 years. That interaction inspired me to learn as much as possible about all parrot species, which are among the most intelligent and social of birds. I soon discovered the World Parrot Trust and its mission to improve the well-being of parrots through welfare, conservation, and education..... Although I cannot be in the field directly helping parrots, I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a long-term donor and directly contribute to the ongoing mission of the World Parrot Trust.

World Parrot Trust is an excellent organization that is committed to both wild parrot conservation and captive parrot welfare. I have been a member of World Parrot Trust for several years and I always look forward to the quarterly newsletter that highlights the many amazing projects and people that work toward wild parrot conservation. Additionally, the World Parrot Trust webpage is an excellent resource for all parrot related facts, which are supported by peer reviewed journals. In addition to the webpage and newsletters, I always look forward to the weekly parrot trivia question in my email inbox. I am passionate about parrots, but my busy day to day life makes it difficult to consume current literature on what is happening with wild parrot conservation, but World Parrot Trust condenses and dispenses that information in a way that is both efficient and digestible. Overall I believe World Parrot Trust is an excellent organization and I look forward to get involved more in the future.
